St Andrews. Opening 2027

Built by Friends, for Friends, for Fun.

A new private golf club at Feddinch, on the high ground three kilometres south of St Andrews. The course is by DJ Russell and opens in 2027. A lodge, spa and cottages follow in 2028.

The Course

18 holes by DJ Russell

Eighteen holes on former farmland next to The Duke’s Course, with views over St Andrews and the bay. The routing is by DJ Russell, a former European Tour professional with 2 Tour wins and a place on Ian Woosnam’s backroom team at the 2006 Ryder Cup. He designed both courses at Archerfield Links in East Lothian. It is the first new course built in the St Andrews area since the Castle Course opened in 2008. The course opens in 2027. Membership is currently closed.

The Short Course

10 holes by Phil Smith

A 10-hole short course and a Himalayas-style putting green sit beside the main 18, and both are set to open ahead of it. They are designed by Phil Smith, who spent more than 30 years designing courses with Tom Weiskopf and Jack Nicklaus, and whose recent work includes the North course at Flying Horse in Colorado and the renovation of Seven Canyons in Arizona. Weiskopf drew up a course for this ground in 2010, and the project stalled after his death in 2022. Smith’s design returns to those earlier plans, carrying Weiskopf’s thinking for the site into the finished holes.
